The charming Museum of Musical Instruments displays a variety of instrurne dating from
Antiquity to the 19C. Antique whistles, horns and handbells are sx ceeded by exotic instruments such as beautiful inlaid mandolins; tambourines a. ocarinas evoke provincial folk dances. Every sort of instrument is here: mechanic portable, military, religious and domestic, adorned with fine paintings or inlaid with mother-of-pearl and ivory. The sumptuous exhibits of the museum include the 17C Barberini harp, which was the name of the famous Roman family to which it belonged and is decorated with magnificent gilt carvings, and a rare example of a vertical harpsichord (17C) wit pretty painted lid.
